About Stockholm archipelago
Thirty thousand islands fan out east of the capital, from a twenty-minute ferry ride to a full day's sail. We arrange private boats and the right handful of islands — some built up with summer houses, others barely touched at all.
Getting there
Fly to Stockholm Arlanda. The inner islands are a short boat ride from the city; the outer skerries are a half day's sail, and worth every hour of it.

The inner islands are lovely and busy. The outer skerries — bare granite, low pines, open horizon — are where the archipelago stops being a suburb and starts being a landscape.

The light is at its longest and the islands have not filled up yet. Our own preference.
High summer
July – August
Warmest water, everything open, and the busiest weeks. The outer islands stay quiet regardless.
Early autumn
September
Empty, sharp, and beautiful. Fewer things are open, which some people consider a feature.

How many islands are there really?
Around thirty thousand, though the count depends on how small a rock you are prepared to call an island. Practically, that number matters less than the geography: the archipelago runs from densely populated islands twenty minutes from the city out to bare skerries a full day's sail into the Baltic, and choosing where along that gradient you want to be is most of the planning.
Do we need to sail, or can we stay on one island?
Both work. Staying put on one well-chosen island is a genuinely restful trip and the easier one with small children. But the archipelago rewards movement — the difference between the inner and outer islands is dramatic, and a private boat is what makes that difference reachable. Most of our clients do a mix: a base for a few nights, then out.
Can it be combined with time in Stockholm?
It nearly always is, and it is one of the best week-long pairings in Europe. Three nights in the city and three or four in the archipelago gives you Michelin-level dining, a well-preserved medieval old town, and genuine wilderness, with under an hour of travel between them.
