Malin Persson

She has stayed in properties in more than forty countries. She came home to arrange journeys in one.
Malin did not arrive in travel through a hotel chain or an agency training scheme. She spent fifteen years running her own floral studio and wedding coordination business in Sweden, arranging celebrations from the smallest table to entire castles dressed for a single day.
That work is unforgiving in a way travel rarely is. A wedding cannot be moved, rescheduled or quietly fixed the following morning. Every supplier has to arrive in the right order, the family has to be held through the day, and none of the effort can be visible. Among her commissions was the wedding of an Academy Award–winning sound designer and his bride, a classically trained musician who had performed at the Oscar galas.
She was never only a supplier. She was the person families trusted at the most private moments of their lives, which is a different job and a harder one to hand over.
The relationships came with her. The hoteliers in Stockholm and the archipelago, the lodges above the Arctic Circle, the estates in the south — most of them she has known for years, and they still take her call first.
Why only Sweden
It is not a large country to know well. It is only a long one.
Most companies selling you Sweden are not in Sweden. They hold a catalogue of a hundred destinations, buy the Swedish half of your trip from a local operator, and pass it on with their name on the front. There is nothing dishonest in it. It simply means the person writing your itinerary has never driven the road between Kiruna and Abisko in February, and cannot tell you which side of the lake the wind comes from.
We are here, not reselling from somewhere else. We live in Sweden, the network is ours, and when something has to be decided at short notice it is decided by someone who has been to the place in question.

The network
Every property, guide and driver in the network was chosen by one of us — in person, or on the judgement of someone we trust. Not from a trade directory, a commission sheet or a supplier's own photographs.
What we look for
We deal with the person whose name is on the place, not a sales office. When a decision has to be made at ten on a Saturday night, that is the only number worth having.
What ends it: The owner is proud of the building and indifferent to the guest.
Some of these relationships are fifteen years old and were not assessed on a single visit — they were earned over a decade of working together, which is a harder test than any inspection.
