People and places in Sweden that are genuinely good at a narrow thing: a kennel that puts the dogs first, a guide who knows one valley properly, a house worth taking whole, a cook who works with what is in season within thirty kilometres.

We would rather send four parties a year to somebody excellent than forty to somebody adequate.

Some of the best things we sell are run by two people and a van. If you have three rooms, one boat or one guide, that is not a problem — it is usually the reason we are interested.

What matters is that the thing is real, that you are honest about its limits, and that you tell us when something has changed.

• Write to us and describe what you do and what you are unusually good at.
• We come and see it, or we send someone whose judgement we trust.
• If it fits, we start small — one or two parties — and see how it goes for both of us.
• We pay on time. We will tell you who is coming and what they care about, and we expect to hear quickly if something goes wrong.
