Three fish, three different days
Three fish, three different days. Grayling in the northern rivers, which rise freely and are the reason people learn dry fly here. Brown trout, harder and worth more. And sea trout in the brackish water of the east coast, which is a different sport again.
The northern season is short and intense — the rivers are fishable from June, the insects come off in quantity, and in July you can fish at midnight in full light, which removes the whole question of when to stop.
You do not need to be good. A morning with a guide on a forgiving river will have a beginner casting acceptably by lunch, and grayling are generous about mediocre presentation in a way trout are not.
