Lighthouse Stay
The keepers left, the rooms stayed
Sweden automated its lighthouses and the keepers left, and a number of the stations became something else — a few rooms, a kitchen, and an island with nothing else on it. Some are run as small guesthouses; a few you take whole.
The appeal is not the tower. It is that a lighthouse is by definition on the most exposed piece of rock available, so what you get is weather, horizon and the sound of the sea on three sides.
Most have a boat transfer that does not run in a blow, and that is the charm and the catch in one sentence. Build a spare day around it rather than a tight connection.
